This concert is presented as part of the Pereira Cellist 2024 concert series.
“The cello is the most perfect instrument…” writes the American cellist Zuill Bailey.
In this concert, join Australian cello ‘royalty’, David Pereira, his former student Rachel Scott and five more of his current students (ranging from ages 8 to 24) – there’ll be four generations of cellists sharing the stage. There will be musical moments that will get your toes tapping, others that will make you smile, and times where you’ll be filled with musical peace – there’ll be something for everyone.
Get ready for a musical journey starting with the sounds of two cellos in Barrière’s sparkling sonata in G major, and then with each new work, an extra cello will be added, until there will be the sound of six! There’ll be music by J.S. Bach, Haydn, a tango by Eduardo Arolas arranged especially for the group, a new work by David Pereira and a snappy Mambo to finish.
‘A Crescendo of Cellos’ is a concert that will stay with you long after the concert itself!
