Do you love Bach cello suites? Get ready for not one, but two suites tonight!
Straight from their concerts at the New England Bach Festival, Rachel and Ben are delighted to be playing the first of a two-night Bach extravaganza at the beautful nolan gallery. Rachel will perform two suites in this concert – the sunny first suite in G major, for solo cello. And then she’ll be joined by percussionist Ben Sibson to play Bach’s third suite – with a twist! Ben will improvise rhythms using drums from around the world over Bach’s music – you’ll be tapping your toes and smiling – guaranteed! Get ready for tambourines, a cahon, congas, the sounds of the djembe – Ben’s drumming returng Bach’s music back to the dances he used for the titles of each movement.
Door to the venue will open at 6.30pm, and ticket price includes a glass of wine.
Ticket sales will STOP at 2pm on the day of the concert, and if there are any tickets available, they will be available at the tunnel. An electronic program will be emailed to all ticket holders by 3pm, but if you would prefer to have a paper program they will be available as you enter the venue.
There’s no public transport to this venue. The floors are uneven, and the tunnel is open at both ends (although the concert is in the middle of this very long tunnel), so you may need to dress warmly if you feel the cold, and be prepared to walk carefully. Sensible shoes are recommended! There are no toilet facilities in the tunnel – you’ll need to catch the lift up to where you enter the complex. There is also no disabled access.
By purchasing this ticket you agree to abide by all instructions given to you by Bach in the Dark or North Sydney Council staff. You understand that you are entering a former industrial site with non-level flooring, open guttering and possible water dripping.
